Bio - Licensed Acupunturist Josh Zimmer, Ap/DOM

Born in Trumbull, Connecticut, I attended university in Boston, received a History degree and, serendipitously, wrote for the college newspaper. A year after graduating, I was working the first of four newspaper jobs in a 17-year stint through journalism that involved many exciting stories and encounters with fascinating people from all walks of life.

The passion for natural healing evolved incrementally but forcefully through family illness, personal experience and my own critical observations of mainstream medicine.

By 2005, it was time to embark on a second journey into holistic healing. Three years and four months later, with a Masters degree in tow from Sarasota's East West College of Natural Medicine, I received my Florida acupuncture license and accreditation from the National Certification Commission from Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Sarasota has remained home since. When not reading about medicine and trying to improve my skills, I usually can be found walking the dog, cooking organically, watering the vegetable garden, spending time with friends and listening to all types of music.

Acupuncture, in my view, taps into the music of our bodies and minds.
